pretty much. its also armor -10 when attacking. Most people would put on 20% enchanting and 10% furious mods. I only use it when putting up skills.

Question: If I used a weapon with -1 recieved dmg would the damage reduction happen before or after the protective spirit effect?

Firstly I'd like to say what great guides you made here with some really helpful instructions.

I've been creating a game guide for our guild members for all kinds of things such as elite skills, farming, green/collector weaps, running etc and have been using various resources such as guru and wiki aswell as my own experiences to help put this together. Its in .pdf format, currently 130 pages and 11Mb. I have a 55HP monk myself and wanted to add all this great stuff to it, so thought it only fair to offer the community the opportunity to use it, i have tried to give credit where i can, but tbh credit is not a priority of mine.
The 55HP monk guide (20 pages) is still a bit rough and i have lots more builds/farms to add and edit. I'm still pretty new to 55HP Monking myself but would advise any new monks to try the troll farm for good practice. I use Mon/Mes so do have some slightly different methods to add from the Mon/War builds used above. Its updated reasonably regularly, so just go to the link and save the .pdf to your pc.

If anybody has any good guides they'd like to add to please e-mail them to me. If anybody has the time to team up and show me their farm routines that would be appreciated. Please don't spam the hell out of me online, i do also have a busy active guild to help out and am constantly busy.

So where is it? go to our website http://lgc.itscreations.nl and then go to the Game>Guides and click on the link there Hope you all enjoy

EDIT: This Guide will be going on Ebay for FREE/Donations to webspace in the next day or two for anyone getting any bright ideas!!!

before the prot spirit takes effect, same with 'shielding hands'. 5 per hit is the lowest you're going to get (unless you use Aura of the Lich.)

I would say any melee axe or sword with 15% or greater enchants last longer will be good enough to get started. You could probably happily get away with 10-15% while your training on easy farms until something better drops. I wouldn't recommend a -1hp degen weapon unless you can keep HB up constant and yes you get the degen as soon as you equip the weapon, this may give you energy problems at times when u need to use the energy for attacking. I do have a -1 energy degen shield i use but would again not recommend unless you can maintain energy or drop an enchant or two (i use it for +30HP it gives). I use -50HP, -20HP, 20/20with 0HP, +30HP, +45HP shields for health management. If your down to the last monster or two, or a boss, and your enchants are having little effect your ok to switch to Divine/Smite rod to finish them off, maybe drop some enchs to allow some regen to keep HB & SP up, easier to maintain if you've already died. Alternatively use a staff which also has ench last longer, 20/20 collector staffs are good.

If you have a weap with decent ench on it but giving -1 HP degen, personally i would salvage it and put it on another sword. The swords not there to cause damage its to keep close so your enchants can kill them off (speaking as a Mon/Mes not War).

the part i don't understand is, why do 55 monks insist on droks tattoos? since protective spirit limits damage taken regardless of armor, couldn't they just use the LA tattoos and save a boatload of money?

Yep

Personally i use Droks but only have tatoo arms and scalp, they help but not necessarily life and death.

My Mo/E is lvl 13 with drok's asthetics armour. Is he capable of being invincible like a lvl 20 monk?

I wouldnt suggest making an invinci monk with a level 13. I would level your character up to level 20 before doing it. Although you COULD it's not suggested.

1. you dont have all your skill points.
2. you will have problems with your health (too low with all superior runes)
3 if you dont have the money for an extra set of armor you will have to live with 55 gear till you can get enough money.

55 monk is usually for the "richer" players in guild wars and if I were you I would get an extra set of armor because you can't 55 everywhere. And yes I would wait till lvl 20 to apply runes.. and if you don't I remeber a guy asking me why he dies when he exits town and I asked him what lvl he was he said lvl 9.. so that didn't help him and he didn't have enough for new armor,so let that be a lesson. (lol)

Runes are getting cheaper so thats good.. and I deleted my 55 monk and now I kinda want to remake... damn!

.Killjoy, I hope you didn't mind me changing the topic of your thread a bit and stickying it It would save me a lot of time than making a new topic then pinning it. If you want it to stay as a 55 monk question thread please tell me and I'll change it back and make another thread.

No its cool Tsunami

I have a question for my own thread.. Now I was wondering since I want to remake my 55 monk would LA armor compared to Droks. armor really matter because the soul perpose is to let protective spirit do its work and not really rely on armor for defense but for energy? I bet this is traveling through many other peoples minds, and I was going to go chest from droks. since thats where most of attks are directed too?
And was thinking of maybe using HOD armor.

Thanks.

What is the most useful secondary profession for a 55 monk? I've hear warrior the most i beleive. Also is the -50HP monk spec offhand more expenisve than the -50HP necro spec offhand? Thanks

Warrior is best if you're planning on going in UW in a 2 man group, because you will 'need' bonettis. For soloing other things you can choose from several choices, including necro (for SS and insideous.)

The monk spec offhand was nerfed very long ago, and is nearly impossible to find anymore (much like the 15% fiery flame spitter.)

is it possible to 55 monk at droks and UW with the basic droks armor. I do not want to spend the money for the parchment if i dont absolutely need to. I would be using bonettis defense and balts spirit.

Ascetic armor (tatoos) provides more energy, which will help you when you're using th 55hp builds. It's not 100% necessary to have it, but it will help a lot, so if you can, get it eventually.

Use the FFS when you're putting up important skills, like spellbreaker. I generally use my holy rod when just casting HB and PS, since I have a chance for fast cast/recharge on my rod. Also the rod is good for dispatching nightmares, so cast Spellbreaker using your FFS, and then switch to your rod.
